Burguières Lane
Did you know there is a Burguières Lane in Destrehan, Louisiana? There is! Located on the River Road near the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and Cemetery is this quiet road named by Jules M. Burguières, Jr. as he owned all the property along the street. In addition, a quaint 2 bedroom home was built by him on the Lane facing the Mississippi River on River Road. Jules and his lovely bride, Elodie Bergeron Burguières had 7 daughters: Barbara, Dolores, Gail, Pat, Josie, Elodie “Deelie,” and Peggy. After the death of, “Ma Jules,” her home was sold, and remodeled by the new owner keeping the original design in mind. Barbara Mire’s (Elodie’s daughter), home is located behind her momma’s home which is, now, owned by her only son, Jules Martial Mire, named after his grandfather.
