4/18/2023 Charles Edward McCurley, Sr. died at the tender age of 31 years due to a diving accident while on a weekend get-away with his wife, Dolores Burguières McCurley. He laid on the bottom of the pool motionless due to a broken neck making him an instant quadriplegic. He was rescued by friends and given CPR. Charles "Charlie Mac" was rushed to the New Orleans VA Hospital where he received care and treatment for 3 months. During that time, he hemorrhaged twice requiring large amounts of blood. One time, 32 units. Cindy and Sheryl did go visit him 1 time before he died. Cindy was 7 1/2 yrs old, Sheryl 6 1/2 years old, "Chip" 4 yrs old, and Jill was 18 months old. Charles fought in the Korean War for 3 years, and served as a medic. He visited the Noritake china plant, and had complete place settings (8-12)sent to my mother while he was overseas. Cindy was given their wedding china and champagne glasses by her mother. "Mac" was outgoing, personable, loved to dance, had a vegetable garden down the length of his backyard, planted multiple fruit trees, raised rabbits, and had a meticulous rose bed, too.
